Silent Deployment of the EG hotfix 41eg04wn.exe or 41eg05wn.exe:

(copied from an email from SAS Support)

1) Download the hot fix to any folder (I suggest c:\<hotfix_id>)

2) Right-click on the hot fix, and select "WinZIP --> Open with WinZIP."

3) Make sure the "Use folder names" box is checked, then "Extract to" c:\<hotfix_id>

4) Bring up a command prompt and "cd" to c:\<hotfix_id>

5) type: "setup.exe /r /s" (without the "quotes") and hit <submit>

The hot fix will then install silently... no prompts at all.

SAS EG 4.1 would not install silently over an exsting version, for me, so I chose to run an uninstall first:
C:\WINDOWS\IsUninst.exe -f"C:\Program Files\SAS\Enterprise Guide 3.0\EGuide.isu" -c"C:\Program Files\SAS\Enterprise Guide 3.0\UninstEG.dll" -a

No intermediate reboot required.

Create a response file:
S:\eguide\setup.exe record

Store the new quiet.ini file in your setup folder.

Then run your silent command:
S:\eguide\setup.exe /s quietfile="S:\eguide\quiet.ini" /f2"c:\logs\SAS41inst.log"

The quietfile double quotes are vital. Without them, you'll get 2-4 "No Language resources available" popups.

No final reboot required.

To silently uninstall Enterprise Guide 4.1:

(copied from an email from SAS Support)

1. Select Start>Run, type regedit, and in the registry editor find
Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{E0E662A9-EDC9-4C8B-9E84-448646810926}.

2. Right-click on UninstallString, select Modify (note: just view - do
not modify!), and copy the string that is in the Value data field. It
looks similar to the following:

RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\00\Intel32
\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation
Information\{E0E662A9-EDC9-4C8B-9E84-448646810926}\setup.exe"
-l0x1d -removeonly "uninstall"

3. To record a file that can be used for a silent uninstallation,
paste the string that you copied in step 2, place it in the
Open field of the Run dialog box, and add the "-r" switch:

RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\00\Intel32
\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation

4. Uninstall Enterprise Guide, and a file called setup.iss is created
and placed in your Windows directory. Rename the file to uninst.iss
Note: Make sure that you remove any previous versions.

5. To uninstall Enterprise Guide silently, run this from Start>Run or
a DOS prompt:
