Using Client in RDP mode.
Packaged it using WinInstall 2003. Ran snapshot, only change being added "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\" to list of files not to scan.
No probs whatsoever - deploys from AD like a charm.
Here's a description how to install ThinPrint Clients Win32 manually on different OS (should work for most embedded systems as well):
First you will need to create an administrative install from the ThinPrint Client:
Setup.exe /a
This will create the ThinPrint Client Win32.msi and two directories Program Files and System32 that contain the necessary files. I have used this method for ThinPrint 5.5 and 6.x.
1. ThinPrint Client TCP/IP
1.1 Win NT4/2000/XP
- Copy files Thnclnt32.exe and TPView.dll to %SYSTEMROOT%\system32.
- Add Thnclnt32.exe to the StartUp group for All Users in order to start client with user logon.
1.2 Win 95/98/ME
- Copy files Thnclnt32.exe and TPView95.dll to %SYSTEMROOT%\system.
- Add Thnclnt32.exe to the StartUp group for All Users in order to start client with user logon.
2. ThinPrint Client ICA
2.1 Win NT4/2000/XP
- Copy files TPClnt.dll and TPView.dll to SYSTEMROOT%\system32.
- Copy file TPClnICA.dll to directory of Citrix ICA Client.
- File module.ini in Citrix ICA Client directory must be modified in a few sections (see below).
2.2 Win 95/98/ME
- Copy files TPClnt.dll and TPView95.dll to SYSTEMROOT%\system.
- Copy file TPClnICA.dll to directory of Citrix ICA Client.
- File module.ini in Citrix ICA Client directory must be modified in a few sections (see below).
1: This section must be added to the end of module.ini
3. ThinPrint Client RDP
3.1 Win NT4/2000/XP
- Copy files TPClnt.dll, TPView.dll and TPClnRDP.dll to %SYSTEMROOT%\system32.
- Create Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SoftwareMicrosoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\ThinPrint. Add the value "Name" (REG_SZ) with data "TPClnRDP.dll" there.
- Create Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SoftwareMicrosoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\ThinPrint. Add the value "Name" (REG_SZ) with data "TPClnRDP.dll" there. - This registry entry is required for each user who wants to use ThinPrint Client RDP.
3.2 Win 95/98/ME
- Copy files TPClnt.dll, TPView95.dll and TPClnRDP.dll to %SYSTEMROOT%\system.
- Create Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SoftwareMicrosoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\ThinPrint. Add the value "Name" (REG_SZ) with data "TPClnRDP.dll" there.
- Create Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SoftwareMicrosoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\ThinPrint. Add the value "Name" (REG_SZ) with data "TPClnRDP.dll" there. - This registry entry is required for each user who wants to use ThinPrint Client RDP.
Important note:
The versions of ThinPrint Client files are different for Win NT4/2000/XP and Win 95/98/ME, even if part of the files have the same names. To obtain the files for the Win NT4/2000/XP group, install ThinPrint Client on a computer with an OS of this group, to obtain the files for the Win 95/98/ME group, install ThinPrint Client on a computer with an OS of this group.
There are two versions of TPClnICA.dll:
- TPClnICA.dll v 5.0.11.1 for Citrix Clients v 6.x.x
- TPClnICA.dll v 5.0.11.2 for Citrix Clients v 4.x.x
