We’ve introduced a new way to show the world your particular ninja skills. Now you can tag yourself with “Expert tags.” Are you an Exchange 2013 wiz? Tag yourself with the Exchange 2013 tag. Know the K1000 inside and out? Tag yourself. Once you’ve tagged yourself, you’ll earn special “expert points” and work your way up the expert rankings anytime you create or reply to content tagged with that tag. You’ll be able to back up your bragging with actual proof that you know your stuff.
How to tag yourself
While logged into the site, click the “Profile” link to go to your profile. Once there, click the “Settings” tab. Scroll down until you see “Expert Tags.
Here’s where you’ll enter the tags for your particular ITNinja skills. You can choose up to 15 expert tags. Just start typing and the tag picker will help you narrow it down.
How to find content
Now you want to find content tagged with your expert tags. Each tag has its own page, that consolidates all of the content. Just go to http://www.itninja.com/tag/(tag-name). So the scripting tag is http://www.itninja.com/tag/scripting. If there are spaces in the tag, replace them with hyphens. So VB Script becomes http://www.itninja.com/tag/VB-Script. You can bookmark these searches, or subscribe to the RSS feed for that search.
You’ll see a complete list of questions, blogs, and links tagged with your expert tags. You get the most points for answering questions and writing blogs, but you also get points for comments on blogs, questions and links. (Expert points are given in addition to your regular Ninja points for participating)
Soon, you’ll be able to see the list of top experts for your expert tags, and in the future, we’ll be adding a feature that lets someone notify the experts when they post a question, giving you the best chance at being the Ninja who responds first.
So, get to work Ninjas. Show the world your skills.
