00005D Errors during OSD

I am trying to deploy Win 7 using OSD on a Dell Optiplex GX620 and keep getting 00005D errors after the splash screen appears. I have already upgraded the bios from A07 to A11 (according to Dell's website, this was a BIOS error) and edited the Task Sequence to disable checking the BIOS, all to no avail. I have used the same CD and image on three other Dell machines, and I do not get any errors? Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Make sure you enable command prompt capability for the image. BEFORE you dismiss the error dialog, hit F8 when the error appears to get to a command prompt. You can then grab the TS log, normally in 'C:\Windows\Temp\SMSTSLog' (from memory - but there should only be one folder in that Temp tree).
Copy the log to a USB stick or whatever. - anonymous_9363 10 years ago
    • I should add that I am attempting to move from XP to Windows 7. When I deploy the XP CD, there are no errors and the imaged deploys. On the same machine, when trying to deploy Windows 7, the error occurs. I have the logs, but there is nothing that I see that would help me to resolve this issue? Any suggestions on what I should be looking for or trying next? - docktorb 10 years ago
