Activation of AutoCAD LT 2008
Hi.
I am packaging AutoCAD LT 2008.
I have done a MST with InstallTailor it works fine.
But I dont know how to get rid of the Activation procedure at the first start of the program.
Can someone that has package AutoCAD 2008 or other software with simular activation methods please help me with this?
I thought it was enough to add this two registry keys but I guess it wasent:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT\R13\ACADLT-6001:409\SerialNumber
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Licenses\Autodesk Licensing Service

The activation of the software is like this:
You type in the serial number. You get an activation code online and you are finished.
The licens is stored under \All Users\Application Data\
There are one folder with a .DAT file in it. It is the licens file.
In the second folder there is an .XML file and some more files. If i remember right 4 files (Im not at my work computer now) In the .XML file there are information about the specific computer the software is licensed to.
So is there anyone how know how I get around this so I can do a silent install to my users without any activation procedure bugging them?

All previous AutoCAD software has had a custom wizard to setup transforms etc for AutoCAD. This handles all of the licensing stuff you can think of.
Have a look in the network\admin folder on the source. (haven't done this version but done every version prior to this like that)

There is no Network\Admin folder. But if you start Setup.exe you get an option to choose "Create Deployments".
I have done a deploy with the wizard but I still have the same problem. When I install my deployment file I still have to activate the software on the first run. The only thing I had to enter during the creation of the deploy was the serial number.
Anyone how have actually deployed AutoCAD LT 2008 over the network? I could hardly believe that Im the first one?

I spoke to the company we both the licens from and they change the 10 individual licens to one.
So now I will be able to create a deploy through Autodesk's deploy wizard and it will count the number of activations. When it reach 10 you cant install it anymore. A annoying method... Hope it will work fine.

i got around this by creating a slightly smart transform and integrating a little xml
use some custom vbs to get the current computer name and substitute the serial number in the xml.
<Computers>
<Computer Name="ComputerXXX" Serialnum="ABCD-ABCD-ABCD-ABCD" />
<Computer Name="ComputerYYY" Serialnum="WXYZ-WXYZ-WXYZ-WXYZ"/>
</Computers>
As you get a new computer just update the xml and continue to use the same deployment solution,
use some custom vbs to get the current computer name and substitute the serial number in the xml.
