AD failes to validate Apple Safari
All,
One of my AD team guy trying to load the Safari.msi to in AD for the GPO deployment in and getting the below error.
Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment info from the package. Run validation on the pacakge to ensure that the pacakge is correct.
I have no clue on the AD deployment. Can any one let me know if this is something to do with the MSI? I ran the validation there was an error and i have rectified. I am yet to test this..
Is there anything i can do??
History of the MSI:
Apple safari.exe extracts the follwoing MSI's
applesoftwareupdate.msi
bonjour.msi
bonjour64.msi
safari.msi- (Main browser installer)
setupadmin.exe
Since i was told to customize this msi i was just installing the safari.msi with the /qb switch and this used to work great and the same MSI i have given to AD team. When you double click this MSI it failes to complete as in the user mode it tries to call the setup admin.exe and installs the other MSI aswell. I disabled CA called installpackages but it did fail to do so saying some .cab in the media table issue.
If i run this safari.exe (UI) with all other above MSI's it works great (without /qb).
IS this is an issue for AD? Please help me out...
Thanks,
Ash

Good call, Kim.
To clarify, though, before the OP responds to say that he doesn't have Office 2000 installed on his machine, what Kim is saying that GP objects if the product you're trying to add to a GPO (in this case, Safari.) is installed. I think in that case, there'll be an entry in the Event Log to say that the product is already installed.

Hi Suma,
i think we have the same problem here, as in QT and iTunes.
GPO-Install doesn't like the use of the (undocumented) language transforms, which are embedded in this package.
To turn them off, open "Safari.msi" in ORCA, go to "View - Summary Information..." and remove all, but the "1033" entry in the "Languages:" Field.
If you need Safari in another Language, use MSIDB.exe from the SDK to extract the needed language transform from the packages substorages table.
Hope, this brings you some steps further.
Regards, Nick
