Adding an advertised shortcut to a Vendor MSI
Hi,
I have got a Vendor MSI.Here the shortcuts are not coming directly under the shortcut tab.We can see the shortcuts under the Features tab. Those shortcuts are set by the vendor with some properties in the command line and the advertisement section is completely greyed out. My Re-Packaging tool is Wise Package Studio Sp3 Standard Edition.
While I am trying to create an advertised new shortcut in the same component,I am unable to select the target file .It is showing blank.
Please let me know if there is a solution to this.

Please post to the correct forum (Package Development).
Apply the changes to a transform if you are not doing that.
This is common as the Shortcut.Target column value is set to a property or formatted value.
First find the Component the executable is associated with and set that executable as the keypath for the component. Then find the feature the component is associated with.
Now change the Shortcut.Component column value to the component above and the Shortcut.Target column value to the feature above.
The shortcut should now have been changed to advertised in the Installation Expert view.
