Pirate says what? jkjk....
seriously, I didn't have any problems getting a non-ALM version shipped to me, although they did take their sweet time about it.
If you have a legitimate license I'm sure they'll do that for you. I was told that ALM doesn't work anyway, so I wonder why they decided to keep it in their media? Strange...they might end up getting rid of it.
Once you get that, look on the Package Database for some good tips on configuring Acrobat installations.

Are we talking about the eLicensing garbage? I had the same problem. Adobe has released new 8.1 media for both STD and PRO that removes the elicensing due to "customer feedback". I had to call their group licensing dept and they overnighted me new media. Very painless. Just tell them that you need it asap and you'll get it in a few days. I tried for quite sometime to suppress that 8.0 elicense stuff and finally found the post on Adobes site saying you cannot and to get new media.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I can't believe they would release something like that for VOLUME LICENSING. I could almost understand home users -- but even then what if I don't have an internet connection - you're gonna make it a REQUIREMENT to run the software? give me a break. Really bad move on Adobe's part.
