Adobe Acrobat Professional and Office integration

Hi,

I have a problem in customizing the installion of Acrobat Professional. My customer want to have a installation where we have to ermove menu item. Inside Acrobat this is working fine using a java script. But he wants also to remove menu items and buttonbar item inside the office integration (running excel, word and powerpoint). I don't have any idea how I can solve this.

Has anybody an idea.

Thanks a lot.

You can change the LoadBehavior of the PDF addin for each of the office products.

To disable the Word integration you can set the following registry value

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin]
LoadBehavior=0 (DWORD)

You'll see the same structure under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ for each of the office applications.

Settings the LoadBehavior to 3 enables it, 0 disables it.

Alternatively you can choose not to install the features that add the integrations.

If you look under the features structure 'Features-Distiller-PDFMaker' you'll see several sub features for applications that Acrobat integrates with:

PDFMakerForOffice (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
PDFMakerForOutlook
PDFMakerForVisio
PDFMakerForProject
PDFMakerForAutoCAD
PDFMakerForIE
PDFMakerForPublisher
PDFMakerForAccess

You can then customise which of these applications you want have the Acrobat integration.

Hi Michael,

thanks for this information. All these things are working well - but don't solve my problem.

The problem was not the deployment of the Office integration, my problem is that my customer wants the complete integration (in Word, in Excel, in PowerPoint). But if you are in Word there you will find a menu from Adobe. And in that menu (inside Word) he wants that some menuitems are not available for the user. Inside Acrobat it's work fine using a Javascript, but it looks like, that this is not runnung inside Word.

So my problem is how I can remove menuitem in the Ofice integration running inside Word, Excel, ...

You can disable specific menu items in office using Group Policy and Control Id's. I"ve done this for several items in the office suite, but I don't know if it'll work for the Acrobat addin. See the following website for details in creating macro's to discover the Control Id's that you need.
