To change the speed to LAN add the following reg key to your installation:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral]
"iConnectionSpeed"=dword:00989680

I didn't use the other one. However, in Adobe Reader you need to close the program to be able to capture the registry settings as they don't get written down before.
And if you capture a HKEY_CURRENT_USER reg key, try first to change it to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In Adobe applications you might be successful with that.

Hope this helps

Thanks but I'm having some trouble.

I'm trying to add this through Wise Package Studio (with an MST) but it is still not working. What did you use to make these changes?

If you are using Wise try this. Create a new .WSE file that does the registry hacks. Compile it. Then, install your new wise.EXE into your .MST file and then run it.

I've created an MST to customize the MSI. I'm using Installation Expert under Wise Package Studio to modify the registry. When I add the key, it does not do anything.

Well I was able to turn off the "Display PDF in browser" through the registry. Still can't turn off "Allow fast web view" or change the connection speed through any type of registry fixes. Anyone have any ideas? I'm new to packaging and this is getting very frustrating! [&o]

There is a new tool to customize Adobe Acrobat/Reader 8 Products: "Adobe Customization Wizard"

Download it here and let this tool create the mst for you. Don't use InstallTailor this time.
This tool is very easy to use and it's free.

You can disable fast web view with one click propably or put the registry key manually into it on the Registry tab.

Normally you will find the MSIfile in the following directory

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Setup Files\ enz...

OK so I got the connection speed changed to LAN permanently. I had to change the following registry key

FROM:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral]
"iConnectionSpeed"=dword:00989680

TO:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral]
"iConnectionSpeed"=dword:10000000

I'm still stuck on disabling the Fast Web View option. I can change it for the current profile, but other profiles still have it checked. Here is what I used:

Registry925 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\Originals bAllowByteRangeRequests #0 Registry_Main_User

I tried changing the Registry_Main_User but it is still not working. Anyone have any other ideas or possible solutions?

I am also having problems using that registry entry and getting it to apply to other users. I am also trying to add toolbar items through the direct registry edit feature in the customization tool:

Registry927 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a0 Open Registry_Main_User
Registry928 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a1 Print Registry_Main_User
Registry929 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a2 Save Registry_Main_User
Registry930 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a3 SaveFileAs Registry_Main_User
Registry931 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a4 AcroSendMail:SendMail Registry_Main_User
Registry932 1 SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons a5 FindDialog Registry_Main_System

...But they also only apply to the current user. Anyone have any ideas to get them to all users?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
