Adobe Standard & Reader

Hello:

Another admin created 2 packages for Adobe Reader 7.0 and Standard 7.0. He deployed the packages to the computer at the same time. The problem I am having is one of the packages seems to be uninstalling the other. It seems they both don't want to live together.

2 questions:

1. Can both of the apps live together on the same computer? Should I modify the installation paths?
2. If I install the Standard edition doesn't that give us the Reader as well?

Any input anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

is the Standard 7.0 the Professional Version???

There is the Reader inside, checking for (and uninstalling) other versions.
No need they should live together cause one of them is associated with .pdf and the other just
sits there doinig nothing.

If you still want both, you have to kick out some Custom actions (like SetBlockingProductAcrobat7Std) or use the Installshield Tuner to not remove previous versions.

Gidday Laszlo,

My understanding is that the reader applied defaults to a licensed Adobe product installed. Simple test, install your Adobe Std. on a test machine and then an old reader (or the other way around). The default reader should be the licensed copy.

Cheers
Wayne
