Adober Reader 9.4 Disable Auto Updates

Hi

I am creating a TRANSFORMS for Adobe Reader 9.4 MSI and in the TRANSFORMS I am trying to disable the "Automatic Update" feature. I am using Admin Studio 9.5 Tuner to create the MST. Under the "Features" node of MST I see "Adobe Updater Manager" and "Updater". The initial state of both features is set to "The feature is installed on the local drive".

So the question that I have for the experts is that if I set both features to "This feature is not installed", would that disable the Adobe Reader Automatic Update OR is there more that I need to do.

BTW, I tried the "Adobe Customization Wizard9" and it kept looking for an "setup.ini" file. I have only one MSI file.

thanks

You will need to use the Adobe Customizaton Wizard 9. What you do is create a setup.ini file with notepad, put it in your package. Put the following in the setup.ini:

[Startup]
CmdLine=/sall /rs
[Product]
CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="Name of your transform"

Johni,

Also Be aware of the bug in the Adobe Customization Wizard, where when you configure the setting "Default viewer for PDF files:", if you set it to anything other thatn "Installer will decide which product will be the default", it will cause users to have issues with viewing PDF's in browser.

This one cause me a lot of grief! Here is the website that explains it:

There are pages and pages in forum posts and in the package KB on this subject.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
