Agent provisioning questions.
We are currently running K1000 version 6.4.120822 and might move to 7.0 soon. Our devices are still running 6.0.1079 and need to be updated to 6.4.522, which we are getting ready to do. Before provisioning the machines to upgrade, would anyone be able to clear up the follow.
1. After making the 6.4 agent an advertised update and creating a schedule based by IP, will the devices install the new agent over the old agent? Or do we need to have the old agent installed first?
2. Since we will be scheduling the update based by IP, will the machines that are not schedule yet still check into the K1000 with the old agent?
3. Machine that are not utilized often, Once they come online will the new agent have to be pushed to them? Or will they automatically receive and install the update?
Any help would appreciated.

Thanks for clearing that up.. Also I think we will be holding off on 7.0 as well. - Jkimberlin 7 years ago
Don't use Agent Provisioning to push out new agents. - nshah 7 years ago
You don't need to do anything here in addition.
This kbot also makes sure that not too many machines update at once.
If you want to install a machine faster you can run a manual check in (Force Inventory) or run the kbot manually (c:\program files (x86)\dell\kace\runkbot 5 0 )
Also don't forget to update your GPO for initial provision that the new agent will be provisioned on new machines and/or the post install task on your K2000 or other deployment method - Nico_K 7 years ago
