App-V Update Package (on SCCM)
I am running SCCM R2 with App-V 4.6. We are using security groups to deploy packages (so per user) and utilizing download and execute.
My 2 (separate) problems are:
1. When I take someone out of the security group or even delete the advertisement, the virtual application is not removed.
2. I open the sequence for upgrade, make changes and save, and right click in SCCM and Open for Upgrade (following the steps in App-V_and_ConfigMgr_Whitepaper_Final) and overwrite the package. Nothing happens!
So I cannot update anything. I can't remove an app and install a new one. I can't do an in place upgrade.
Is this because it is per-user or is something not configured correctly? I can't even use a task sequence to script the uninstall and push a new one down because Task Sequences only work for per-machine installs!
Help!

Thanks. I had that checked off. My problem was that it wanted a maintenance window to do the removal. I added one for my machine to test and it removed the app!
Now I just have to figure out why it didn't remove the start menu folder. It removed the shortcut, but not the folder above. I guess this is a limitation of a per user install?
thanks
Mike

I have found that as the Advert has already run and been successful it won’t rerun to update the package even if it Mandatory. So what I do is add another date to the Mandatory assignment to force the advert to rerun the install. This will put the updated app in the SCCM cache on the client, so the next time its launched App-v will copy the updates to the App-V cache and launch.
Hope this helps Jo
