Can i assign a icon to shortcut url

Hi,
is it possible to assign a icon to the url shortcut. I am keep on trying to assing the vendor supplied icon but could not able to assign.

(I am using WPS, and created transform for a vendor supplied MSI.) I am able to create a shortcut with IEXPLORE.EXE icon but could not able to assign the vendor supplied icon.

Thanks,
Ramesh

Your best option is to extract the icon from the EXE which contains it, then point WPS to the .ICO for the shortcut. WPS will import it into the Binary table and the Windows Intaller engine will do the rest at install-time.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. But i tried it in different way it worked out.

here is the steps i have followed:
1. Included the .url file to transform since i am creating shortcut for a vendor supplied MSI.
2. Then used wise script and used "create shortcut" function and i have referred the .url source location, destination location and icon locaton.
3. Copied the .ico file with in the custom action before using the create shortcut function.

it worked for me.

Thanks,
Ramesh

Let me think about it and I'm sure I can come up with a more overly-complex solution! :-)

Whatever works for you...
