Can KACE detect if a software has become a licensed software instead of a freeware?

If a software previously installed and was labeled under Freeware, and later on became a licensed software..will KACE be able to detect this?

It will depend on the software and what differences there are in the trial and licensed version.

If it doesn't pick it up right away, you can use a custom inventory rule to look for whatever makes the licensed software different.

  • Yes but as Jason says you would need to know the method. Some use a registry entry, aome a key file, and others patch an exe. All detectable but companies go to great lengths to hide reg methods and change them often. - jdornan 11 years ago
