Can the K1000 agent effect BIOS settings?

Can the K1000 agent change or override any BIOS setting with out any script or anything being deployed?  We have 2000 computers in our school system and they were set in the BIOS to power on at 5-530am every weekday morning.  The last 2 days, they haven't powered on at all.  I checked the BIOS and they are still set to power themselves on.

We recently purchased KACE and started deploying the agent through our network.  RIght now it's just collecting inventory.  We aren't pushing out any scripts or anything.  Some other things happened that I'm going to check out, but I want to eliminate this as a possibility.

Thank you,

Mike

  • Thanks everyone. I actually have CCTK and I'll be using it soon, I'm just trying to figure out why they turn themselves on then shutdown 3 minutes later.

I did see something though...does anyone know what a KBSERVICE.SHUTDOWN file is? - mjreccoppa 10 years ago

If you use Dell machines you can use the CCTK (Client Configuration Toolkit) to create a Bios configuration.
This can be rolled out with the KACE.
Other vendors may have similar tools.

I know that you aren't want to do this, but this is a possible way for you

No, the KACE agent doesn't have this capability.

you may want to check the last state setting,  If you had a power hit and it is set stay off it could cause what you are seeing.
