Can the K1000 Agent upload a file from a client to the K1000 server?

Hi guys,

Just need clarification on this - is it possible to have the agent installed on a client machine upload a file from that machine back to the K1000 box (so I'm not pushing the file from K1000 down to the agent - I want to go the other direction).

So I tell it a static location to obtain a file, and then have that download into the K1000.

Any method to perform this?

Thanks!

you can create a kscript to upload to the clientdrop directory.

some info on how to access the share

  • This would require that we have TCP 445 (Windows File Sharing) available from the client to the K1000 correct? Unfortunately, we are an MSP, and our clients are outside our WAN connection, so the only ports we have available to work with is 443 and 52230.

Any other methods or tricks? - bpatton 10 years ago
    • how big is the file? - SMal.tmcc 10 years ago
      • Should only be a couple of megabytes. 5-10 maybe? - bpatton 10 years ago
      • do you need the entire file or are you looking for something within the file? - SMal.tmcc 10 years ago
      • It would have to be the entire file. - bpatton 10 years ago
    • The scripting action "Upload a file" will only use port 80 or 443 (if you enabled SSL).
You can find the file in the inventory of the machine that uploaded it under Software-> Uploaded files.

      • Hi StockTrader - so the Upload a File will allow me to tell the agent to upload a file back to the K1000 server? I'm under Inventory -> Software, but can't seem to locate anything that says Uploaded Files. Any additional pointers? Feels like I'm close to an answer. - bpatton 10 years ago
    • So..
1-Create a script that uses the action UPLOAD A FILE
      2-execute the script
3-when the script execution on the machine is complete go to the inventory of that device
4-Look under the section Software -> Uploaded file of the inventory of the device where you executed the script.

      • Gotcha! Now I undestand! Thanks StockTrader!

If I do this for let's say, 100 devices, is there anyway to download all those files at once from the K1000? Or will I need to click on each device and download the file each time?

Thanks again! - bpatton 10 years ago
      • As far as i know there is not a way to download them all together. Also as recent as version 5.5 there is not a way to delete these file from the kbox easily so be careful with uploading too many large files this way. - htomlinson 10 years ago
    • Uhmm...download them all together is a complex one...I need to work on it but I cannot guarantee that I will find a way....
