If the "mdb" extension is already associated with the virtualized Access on the target machine, I'd think you could just sequence a shortcut that references the database on your network. When your user clicks the shortcut, Access would open the db.
Or are you trying to virtualize the whole database?

I typically keep the databases on the network (unless the client needs them to be portable) and make an MS Access sequence with any additional dependencies. Every time an application is requested I just add a new OSD to the Sequence with the pointers that are requried. As I add the application I make sure to add the OSD to the SPRJ file so that if someone else needs to upgrade the sequence or completely republish the sequence there will be no issues with the added OSD files. Then while publishing the xtra shortcut I switch the file type on the import wizard to be OSD and not SPRJ to simplify the import process (avoid the duplicate application error).

I would do what Kkaminsk suggested to you.
Create an OSD (which is a kind of shortcut) that points to the database on the network and then add the OSD to your sequence for Office.
You can control who sees the shortcut by adding a security group to the "access permissions" tab on the OSD in the management console.
I wouldn't try to do too much with Softgrid without some training. The infrastructure is very simple to get a grasp on.. but the sequencing has a learning curve.
