Deploy to XPS13 with K2000

I have seen some grumbling on the difficulties of doing a scripted install on an XPS 13. With 3.5 SP1, it seems there have been some improvements. is there any better way to do a scripted install on an XPS13 or is it still a huge fire drill with thumb drives and such? I am guessing the thumb drive is still necessary as currectly it crashes booting into my standard boot env.

This has moved me backwards. Now the dongle is not working. Before the LAN7500 was recognized, now even it isn't working. Perhaps a USB driver issue? Though I can't see how, the drivers are listed in the bootenv:

- If you are attempting to boot a UEFI computer to the K2, you will need to use ADK with the ADK driver pack, along with a thumb drive (PXE is not built into UEFI) or the Startech ethernet adapter. If you are attempting to boot a non-UEFI system you can build the WAIK winpe3 version of KBE but you'll still need to boot via USB (either drive or adapter) if the computer doesn't have an ethernet port. - mpace 11 years ago
  - This is precisely what I am doing (legacy boot off of USB, Dell LAN7500 USB NIC dongle.) I can get it to boot no problem. The problem comes when it begins the scripted install and complains that :
    
    "Windows cannot locate the disk and partition specified in the unattend answer file's <ImageInstall>"
    
    I followed this thread with no luck:

Chances are you either have a problem with your preinstallation tasks or possibly are missing a storage control driver in KBE. Did you build the SI answer file with the built-in wizard in the K2 or did you create your own externally? Can you screenshot your SI deployment plan for me? - mpace 11 years ago

You'll want to build an ADK based boot environment and use either a thumb drive or a Startech USB-to-Ethernet dongle. Use the WinPE4 driver pack and instructions and this KB article: http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/how-to-add-the-kbe-3-x-driver-pack-to-kbe

Since it uses UEFI boot you will need a boot stick to UEFI attach to the kbox but after that it should push out fine. You will need to upload win pe4 KBE's to the kbox and create UEFI stick from that. Be sure to include the external dongle drivers and if you use the usb3.0 port the drivers for that in your KBE.

I have tried that and still no dice. I rebuilt the bootenv with the WinPE3 drivers mentioned below and no luck. Same "can't find the disk" error. - bubbagump210 11 years ago
- I had to go into bios and add the stick as bootable UEFI source. then it showed in the boot mnu - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
