Deployment in Workgroup
Hi i'm after some advice please:
A little unusal this one. I've been given a project to set up a management solution for >1000 automated machines connected to a XP Pro PC. There is no log on by the operators and they all run identical profiles. The machines will be permantley connected to the companies network by 3G, therefore there is a need to keep traffic to a minimum.
The primary role of the network is to push updates automatically with no user input to the bespoke application currently 3 times a year. These updates would be around 100 Mb. Other activity would be remote support and pulling small amounts of data back to the centre.
For the deployment end I need something that doesn't rely on AD / group policy as the network will be Workgroup based to keep complexity down. (Although we may review this if absolutley necessary) Can anyone please recommend packages that could work within this?
I've started looking at Prism Deploy which I think will work OK, but haven't got the eval copy set up yet in our test enviroment.
Any comments, idea's, suggestion gratefully recieved.

Take a look at the Remote Software Installation Utility from Install Solutions. There is no client needed on the remote systems. You can connect with a local admin account and deploy the software to the systems remotely. Since it is only a few times a year it would be the best solution both price wise and ease of use.
