All that i need to know if the SnagIt application impacts any other application on the machine since SnagIt application is working fine. If so how can i rectify it.

Are you sure it's during install and not during first launch of the application?
Is the product with the ProductCode "{DA0BF7AB-88EB-4675-8FA1-531EAD938821}" the SnagIt application you're trying to install?
Do you have any previous version already installed of SnagIt?

Hi Kim,

This warning occured during installlation and not during the first launch. Yes , you are right i am trying to install the SnagIt application with the product code "{DA0BF7AB-88EB-4675-8FA1-531EAD938821}" . And there is no previous version installed on the machine while installing the application.

Check for an event id 1004 below your 1001 as that should show which resource that is missing.
However it could be a shared component problem.
What does a verbose log say?

Hi Kim,
You are right agian , There is a warning which is as follows :

Detection of product '{DA0BF7AB-88EB-4675-..} feature 'SnagIt' component '{103BC94E-.....}'
failed. The resource 'HKCU\Software\Techsmith\SnaIT\8\InstallExe' does not exist .

Now the problem is this registry gets deleted afer installation and since this key is set as the key path everytime the user logs in , it tries to heal itself , as a result everytime errors are logged in the event viewer , which is not acceptable to the client...

This may not be "Best Practices" but clearing the Key File on that exe, will stop the advertisement, and the self healing for every user.

prashanth,

I'm abit confused.
Is the registry entry from the 1004 event removed when the application is launch or at the end of the installation?
For the latter check for any custom action doing this which a verbose log would be more specific on.

Is this a vendor MSI or does TechSmith still author legacy-setup?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
