This is what worked easily and quickly for me.

Just delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions\11.0 and 10.0 keys.

Run the install again.

Comments:
  • It worked for me. I had to uninstall Flash 3.3 then reinstall 3.1 but I got an error 1722 during the installation. I removed the registry key as TheInfamousOne suggested and I tried to install Flash 3.1 again. No more errors and Flash 3.1 works on my computer like before. Thanks a lot for the tip. - prousseaufr75 11 years ago

One visitor reports that deleting the .MSI file from the Installer folder can clear the problem (example: c:\windows\installer\83940.msi).
Another suggests this may be a security issue:
Verify that the local administrator group has full
control permissions in NTFS for the following folders:
c:\winnt\temp
c:\winnt\installer
c:\documents and settings\\local settings\temp

Check the custom actions for any "Execute Program From Destination" custom actions. The detination file might not exist or fail with an errorcode (ie VBScript or executable).
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
