Hi Experts

While uninstallation of an application, it is throwing some erors like xxx.ocx is to be registed and we have ignored it and yet again it is throwing error like some xxx.dll is to be registered. Can anyone please provide some solution for it.

Regards
Ramesh

Hi,
try registering the dll's using the custom action table and conditionalise it in the Install execute table when to run.

Cheers,
Ram.

Uninstall with verbose logging to get some more details.
Sounds like there is a custom action registering the ActiveX/COM Component without or a "fault" condition.

i think you would be better off not using the custom action table to handle the registration. if your using wise use WisecomCapture.exe and import the reg to the package.

John, the OP was asking about registration (probably UNregistration, of course...) on an uninstall.

Ramesh, can you make that clear for us, i.e. the OCX is being UNREGISTERED on uninstall? My suspicion is that either the unregister Custom Action is taking place after files have been removed or, as is common in MSIs built by new packagers, there is no condition set on the registration action which is thus executed for installs AND uninstalls.

Hi VBScab,

Thanks for your reply. The application was okay when we have tested in our environment. The uninstallation as well as installation was perfect. But when tested it was tested in live environment by some others, they are saying that some xxx.ocx and xxx.dll are to be registeered. They just told me about it in a conversation and they said that they will send some screen shots regarding this. Anyways if once i get it i will share it with you. Please suggest me what to do.

Thanks in advance

Neither, apparently:

What I *think* Ramesh is now saying is that the application itself is whining about unregistered OCXs. In that case, Ramesh, you need to use [everybody yawn...] ProcMon to monitor which OCX is registered incorrectly and add the COM information from it to your installation.
