Hi!

HKEY_USERS contains all user specific keys the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive is a mirror of one of the HKEY_USERS Subkeys
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG is a mirror of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\Current
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a mirror of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes

hope that helps!

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a mirror of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes

I thought HKCR is an combination of HKCU\Software\Classes and HKLM\Software\Classes - and where the same keys exists in both that HKCU overrides HKLM

Anyone else?

As far as I know HKCR is just implemented for backward compabilities with Windows 3.x registry and they are exactly the same delete on entry in HKLM and it will disappear in HKCR

And yes Win3.x has a reg only consisting of HKCR and even a reg-editor

I'm not usually one to agree with anything, but I agree with 'MSIPackager'.
