How to capture IBM Websphere Message Brokers Toolkit 6 which is 5 Gb in size with 170,000 files

Hi
I have to capture a package that it 5 Gb in size and has 170,000 files,
I have already updated the Wise template to allow for Authoring Large Applications but the application stills falls over just as it is finishing completing the second snap - it takes about 5 hours to build

I am using Wise Package studio 5.3 and the capture is being preformed on a VMImage using VMworkstation 4.5 on an XP SP1 build

Any advice at this stage would be very welcome

Thank you

Hi!

I have never used Wise, but I can guess that there is some kind of function (like the one in InstallShield) where you can add Dynamic Links to files instead of adding them as normal. This usually makes the build progress time to decrease.

I would also recomend to make CAB-file(s) of it, because it would otherwise take a long time to install the MSI-package.

Hi Jonasm

Here lies a big difference Wise and Installshield

Once the second capture completes in Wise it builds the MSI automatically for you,
I do not have the option to select Dynamic Links as I would if I were building an msi from an installshield capture

Therefoore the msi never gets built
The size of the application seems to be overloading Wise and I need to find a method around this

I do not have a copy of installshield in my current environment

Thank You

Can't you delete some files before second capture, and add them later on to the project?

Jonas' idea is a good one.

You could also download a trial of Installshield.

Are you sure you have to package this all up in one MSI? Can you break out the apps? What value will a 5 GB MSI bring to you... that's too big to deploy with most deployment tools... and won't even fit on a DVD!
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
