HP PhotoScanner 3800
Hi All,
I am trying to package the drivers for this scanner. I have tried the following;
All the files mentioned in the [SourceDisk] location in the INF file I have put in a MSI and distributed.
When I plug in the scanner it complains about the driver not being signed. We have a policy that prevents any hardware from being installed if not signed by MicroSoft. Yet when I distribute from CD all is fine.
Is there a specific file that is required that signs the drivers?
I can disable the policy but this would have other repercussions

cduplessis,
You could try to install it using the PNP Driver Template first. This may solve the problem.
If the driver is unsigned after that then your stuck as far as I know. I have heard that the Microsoft device driver install will allow unsigned drivers by using the /LEGACY parameter but I haven't tested it as yet.

Jim,
What I did was copy all the files in the source of the SoftwareCD. Then I removed dll,cat, inf files that relates to other models e.g. hp3770.dll, hp4060.cat etc. Although there were more files now the contents was still about 3Mb.
Somewhere in those files were the signed drivers..... ANYWAY......
Where can I find the PnP Driver Template? I did a search on the msi.chm file and could not find any hits. I would like to explore that further.

The PnP driver template details are at the following (sticky) note in this forum

You might also want to consider using the above method to create a single package that deploys the drivers for all the HP Models, not just the specific model you are working on at the moment.
