iCacls command not working.

Hi All,

I am facing issue with iCacls command. I used below command:

icacls C:\abc /grant :r Users:(R,W)

It executes successfully but folder 'abc' doesn't get permission apply.

Can anyone help please and let me know what wrong I am doing here ?

Regards, D

Hi,
who (or which account) has the ownership before attempting to set the permissions. I have found that folders whose owner is TrustedInstaller fail to apply permissions. I've had to remove the ownership from TrustedInstaller, set an other account as the owner, apply my needed permissions and then reset the owner to TrsutedInstaller... perhaps you have a similar problem.

Cheers
Phil

  • Thanks for your reply Phil.

I manually created the folder and try executing the command with the same account (Admin) from cmd.
Could you please tell how do we check TrustedInstaller ? - The_D 8 years ago
    • Hi,
you can check ownership using the "normal" properties dialogue... Just make sure that the sharing wizard is not active. - Pressanykey 8 years ago

Try this:

    icacls c:\ABC /inheritance:r /grant:r <DOMAIN>\<USER>:(OI)(CI)F /T
