Install the msi package only if a another one was installed

Hi,

I was facing a problem in install shield which is:
I have 2 msi packages 1 called the core package in which i want the second package to check before installation if the core package is installed, if yes then the installation occurs normally, if not then the second package wont be installed telling me that you need to install the core package first before installing and exits,

just for clarification when installing the core package some files goes to a specific location so i can check the existence of these files in their location when installing the second package if the files exists then install the second package and if not then the second package wont install and say that you need to install the core package first before installing and exits,
Can anyone help me please as this is the first time to use install shield,

thanks alot

To my mind, what you're after is a step-by-step guide which no-one here has the time to do. It also strikes me that you have insufficient knowledge about Windows Installer in general for anyone to dive in with specific instructions for InstallShield.

The first thing you should so is read and digest Phil Wilson's The Definitive Guide To Windows Installer. Once you have a graps of the fundamentals, then you can easily work out how to use whatever tool you're using to get the results you want.

Lastly, forum ettitiquette - not just here but in most fora - suggests that if you're going to post new threads, you should delete any posts in other threads.

Hi kindly go to directory editor and in tables you can see the App search or system search table.

Most preferable is the app search table.since you know the registry or file of the core package wher it installs specify it as a check point to install the application.

Ther u can also prompt if the path is empty or nothing avaialble it wil prompt for the required core package.

Jus try n let me knw if u got any queries back...
