I recently had issues with installscript7. Are you trying to do a per-machine install? If so I might be able to help as 7 has a DCOM configuration issue that prevents machine based installs if there is no user logged into the console.

I've tested MSIs that were working with 8, and they seem to be fine with v9.

Hmm sometimes I don't read the question properly the first time... [:-]

I should more properly answer the question by stating that you can install multiple versions of the InstallShield Script Engine on the same machine as long as they are the latest version of the V7, V8, or V9 series... You can get the latest installer for each version on the InstallShield website. That should eliminate some issues I think. I always ensure the InstallShield Script engine version required by the MSI is installed.

I've recently been working on the Nokia PC Suite 6.4 and that comes as a Setup.exe which unpacks to a Nokia MSI, an ISscript9.msi and a cable dirver setup.exe.

The setup runs and installs the ISscript 9. Once the installation is finished it launches a seperate install for the Cable drivers. This in turn installs ISscript 7 before launching the Cable Driver install.

So I'm pretty sure that each Version of the InstallShield Script engine is autonomous and requires the latest version of it. What I mean is that when I install version 7 of ISscript that we on the network the Cable drivers won't install, but when I install version 7 that came with the Cable driver they installs.

Hurray for InstallShield. I think Wise should come up with a Util that can re-package installshield Setup.exe's which have embedded MSI's PLEASE!
