Installshieldscriptingengine.msm 10.50

Hi,

I've been looking for the InstallShieldScriptingEngine.msm version 10.50, but it seems like it's nowhere available for download. I already have various other versions... It's really just this single 10.50 version I'm missing and which I am in need of right now [&:]

I do have the MSI for it (isscript.msi extracted from the setup.exe), but the deployment tool used at this current customer is a bit too simple and I can't chain link requirements like SCCM does for example. This makes the MSI a bit worthless....

Does anyone here still have it and are you willing to share it (upload it somewhere or e-mail me)? That would really help me a lot!!

Or if someone can tell me whether it's safe to convert the isscript.msi to a merge module myself that would also do. I haven't tried that before and I don't know if that will work (maybe the msm needs some tuning??).

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Rowan

Do I recall that you're a Wise Package Studio user? If so, converting an MSI to an MSM is a 2-minute click, click, click exercise. I imagine InstallShield would be the same. And safe? Of course! A MM is an MSI in a different dress.

Failing that, try installsite.org. Although many of their downloads are out-of-date, I seem to recall getting one or more MM from a link there.

I was a Wise user indeed. Not anymore though.... And while it was easy to convert from MSI to MSM in Wise I have taken a quick look at AdminStudio but I could only find ways to do a conversion the other way around (msm to msi). After some more searching, I found this on InstallSite (again no merge modules there):
Using InstallShield X for instance, you could create an empty merge module project, then open the MSI file and export components from the MSI file to the merge module project.
Note that there are some limitations with merge modules: They can't include features, using custom actions requires some additional modifications, and you shouldn't have dialogs in merge modules.

Just took a look at it and I can only select 1 component at a time... This is madness!

The reason I decided to stop looking for now, post here and await some replies is because I have a load of other apps as well which I can do first. They all need to be finished by the end of the week... If I'm done with them and nobody has the merge module I guess I'll be able to get my hands on some not totally legal Wise install, but I'd rather not... Let's hope for a miracle, I still have 2 days ;)

The ModuleSignature table says 10.0 ;)

Might be that 10.0 would also work for 10.50, but it's weird that 10.50 is listed seperately then...

It sure does but the file version of the IDriver.exe binary says 10.50
