Last I heard was:

There will be a 18 month period to acquire Altiris.
Livestate 7 is still on schedule for Q4 2007

I hope NOT! We just spent $160K on additional licensing and $500K on the software and licensing.

"Is Symantec announcing any end of life plans upon the acquisition close date?
Yes, Symantec is announcing the end of life of Carbon Copy, LiveState Client Management Suite, LiveState Delivery, LiveState Delivery Manager, Symantec Discover, and LiveState Patch Manager.
Symantec will not announce definitive plans for any other products. Both Symantec and Altiris are still evaluating proposed directions and ensuring that the needs of customers and partners are met."

Basically Symantec Live State and Altiris are; well, HAVE already merged and will combine into another product. They are going to take the best of both products and combine them into one with a new name. There will be no Live State 7. The acquisition was announce or being worked on in January 07 but the acquisition just got closed last month or recently so a rep says. So soon something will be officially announced.

[Update]
Straight from a Symantec rep that was at our site.
Within the next 1-2 weeks Live State 6 will not be sold anymore most likely! New customers will have to purchase Altiris such and such whatever it will be named. Pre-exisiting customers will then be migrated to Altiris at some point in time. What fun...

LiveState Delivery IS DEAD!

The developers have been fired long ago and the Indian comany hired to patch it together has not produced significant output since. So there is nobody there understanding the source code to integrate anything into Altiris. And, honestly, Altiris doesn't need anything from LiveState, either. The LSD/SLD (whatever) technology is by now five years behind the competitiors.

Here is the EOL Announcement from Symantec: Altiris FAQ

Symantec will keep Altiris as a seperate business unit and I hope they won't add this to the list of products they managed to kill.
