Java JRE test applet fails

We are faced with a strange situation with Java JRE and would like to know if anyone has this problem or resolved it.
We roll out JRE via Group policy software installation or startup script(successful installation in the app log). During a thorough test of the roll out (1.6.0u17 to 1.6.0u20) we discovered that JRE would pass applet testing (java.com or javatester.org) for the primary user of the PC but not for anyone else, prior to the update 20 upgrade and after it.
anyone hav a clue

ERROR details from javatester.org

My guess would be that the PU has a bunch of JRE crap in HKCU which the others don't have. Two VMs running side by side would be the quickest way to see that but failing that, a comparison of registry dumps of HKCU\Software\JavaSoft for the PU and a non-working user would be the next best way.

I found a clue, by default java uses the browsers settings for the network connections, which works for the primary user. If a different user logs on and changes the the setting to Proxy server Port (yes we have a proxy) it works.............

So, it sounds like you're not controlling the proxy server settings by Group Policy. It's probably time you set that up.

I have an auto config script GPO for proxy settings.........
