K2000 Scripted Installations for Windows 10
I have found posts online that state that Windows 10 scripted installs are possible on 3.7116629, but I am having issues with the task engine halting until a task is finished. Specifically, when installing Office 2013 I will get a Return code:1 and it will move on to the next task while the Office installation is actually still taking place. I have let it sit until the installation is complete and it will continue from there, but that is not guaranteed. I have also had the engine report that Office installed successfully when it did not, and the following programs that require it to have hung. I am using a script with a custom MSP that has no problems during a Windows 7 install. We do not have any 8 or 8.1 systems on the network so there have not been any prior testing done before now. I have followed the WPE10 creation instructions in the guidebook created by Jaime Cerra and that works fine. I also added the Windows 10 drivers manually to the K2000 and they install just fine, but I have noticed the system will be installing a couple of drivers while the scripted install is running. I am unable to run the install with "Continue on errors" on as it attempts to run multiple tasks at once. There also seems to be an issue with UAC popping up during tasks and not turning on after the whole process completes. I have had a couple of completed installs on a laptop and desktop, but not without any pop ups or tinkering to get it to finish. My goal of course is to have a hands-free install. I am still new to all of this as I have only been working with our K2000 for six months, so any help is greatly appreciated.

We're seeing similar issues in our environment. I think this is part of the "it works but isn't supported until the next update" language that I have heard from Dell. - chucksteel 9 years ago
