Kace K1000 - How to change asset type ?
Hi everyone,
We're trying to do some cleaning in our Licenses, which are all (for the most part) inventoried in the License asset type in our K1000 server (v6.4.120756).
The best way I found to do would've been to simply create another asset type like Licenses - Archive and transfer the unused ones there, but I can't seem to find a way to do so.
What would be the best way to achieve my goal ?
The main purpose of this really is to cleanup our Licenses view, so when our Help Desk people go view our licenses, they're not bothered with stuff we don't use anymore and/or simply older licenses that have since been upgraded.
Thanks in advance! :)

I would export the current licenses to a spreadsheet, delete them all, and then start over. If you really want the old data in an asset you can import the spreadsheet to a new asset type.

Hi Chuck,
I indeed wanted to keep the data from the asset, just move it somewhere else to un-clutter our view.
I ended up having to create a report and edit the CSV content, then reimport everything, but in the end it works fine.
Baffles me that Kace has no "move" or "transfer" option, but oh well. - AlexPilon 8 years ago-
I know the question has been answered but you can also create a drop down that says "Active" and " Archived" so that you can sort by that via columns or create a Custom View under Licenses that show you only Active licenses.
That way I don't have to manage two tables and keep doing export/import as new and old licenses come into play. - nshah 8 years ago-
As far as I know, yes you can. In your Asset Type configuration, just create a new field, select the Single Select type. Give it a name, and then choose the options that you want.
This'll create the wanted drop down. Then, you'll just have to go through your licenses, and manually set them up to either Active or Archived or whatever other option you created. - AlexPilon 8 years ago
