Large Zip Files

Since I do not have a packager tool at my disposal, I was working with some zip files and batch scripts to install some custom programs. Using the zip and unzip commands with large zip files produced unexpected results. The unzip command did not recognize large zip files and would not unzip them. The zip command would not zip up the very same directories that were zipped with no problem using the "Compressed Folders" feature of Windows XP. Are there any programs out there with command line interfaces that will handle zipping and unzipping folders in Windows XP? Thanks.

Zip 2.1 (April 27th 1996).
UnZip 5.52 of 28 February 2005, by Info-ZIP.
You know, when I looked at the UnZip information, I saw there was a website http://www.info-zip.org/zip-bug.html I am in the process of downloading the new versions of these tools to see if they will give me better results.
