Lenovo Silent Install SCCM fails
I'm not sure where in the forum to put this. I'm looking for anyone with experience installing Thinkpad Presentation directory silently.
It installs silently with setup.exe -s -sms but only when logged into the OS. I need to run in in a SCCM task sequence. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong forum. Thanks.

How would it be different to any other SCCM push? And why do you "need" to run it in a Task Sequence, rather than as a regular program/package?
And BTW, there is a dedicated SCCM/SMS forum. A moderator may move the thread. there.

Dang looking at my post from yesterday it looks almost unreadable. Sorry for the scattered sentences.
It doesn't really seem to matter how I attempt to install the software through SCCM, it just doesn't seem to install. The command line switches seem to work only if I'm running it from the command line while logged in. So they sort of work but just not through SCCM.
The need to add via Task Sequence is to ensure the software is installed as part of our image.
Thanks for the info on the forum. I couldn't find it yesterday.

Check the advertisement status for the task sequence, and it will show you the actual program status e.g
If you click the icon to the left of the program failed line, then you will get the error code/error discription.
BTW we use Task Sequences a lot to deploy software, there shouldnt be any difference as far as the software installer is concerned.
Time Message State Name Message Name
17/09/2010 16:08 Accepted Program received
22/09/2010 09:13 Running Program started
22/09/2010 09:14 Running The task sequence execution engine started execution of a task sequence
22/09/2010 09:14 Running Program started
22/09/2010 09:16 Succeeded Program completed with success
22/09/2010 09:17 Running The task sequence execution engine performed a system reboot initiated by an action
22/09/2010 09:19 Failed Program failed (unexpected restart)
22/09/2010 09:19 Running Program started
22/09/2010 09:19 Failed The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence

Also, remember when you install an applciation within a task sequence you have to go in and enable "Allow this program to be installed from the Install Software task sequence without being advertised" within the program, properties, advanced.
Not if its advertised you dont!! That is only to show it listed as part of a lite touch install.
