Lock Permission on a Registry Key
Hi,
I am trying to use Wise\Orca to place Lock Permissions on HKLM\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT.
In Wise, when click on AutoCAD LT, you cannot select "Details" to set permissions. You can only do this to strings within the key.
Is there a way you can set Lock Permissions on a key, rather than on strings within the key?
Thanks,
Mike.

Mike,
LockPermissions in general doesn't work very well when setting registry permissions. You can only set registry permissions on the <default> key, and only if there are no other values at or below that level (at least, this has been my experience). If this key is in fact the outermost key, then you can add a rgistry value of "Create empty key" and set permissions on that and it should work. Your best bet, however, is to create a custom action using, for example, SetACL.exe. Much more reliable.
Also, see this thread that was posted the other day with the exact same question and links to a lot of useful information:

AutoCAD, however, should be Windows XP logo friendly. You should not normally need to grant rights to things under HKLM.
