Packaging in Linux
I am from windows background and have little knowledge on Unix OS.
Through wise package studio or Adminstudio/Installdhield we can capture all the changes done by any legacy installer and create a silent installation for it automatically using msi technology.
Is there any tool for the same in Unix OS.

I have worked on MAC packaging. There are quite some tools which we can use like packagemaker, Composer, InstallEase etc.
Though packaging in MAC requires additional knowledge other than handling tools, as these tools doesn't help much like windows repackaging tools.

Thanks Vignesh. But Composer is part of Casper studio, which is end-end suite for Mac OS only.Any info on Linux/Unix tools.
And also, I got two three links on Unix packaging but they are only for packaging not for repackaging.I mean to say, if we have loose files we can package them to RPM or Deb format. But if suppose I have a VLC player , in windows I can capture the changes while installation using wise/Adminstudio. But I didn't find such tools for Unix.
Can you suggest some for this. - ur00361883 8 years ago-
