Packaging of MapInfo Professional
I created a transform using the difference method for the above mentioned application since I was unable to create a response transform using Tuner in Installshield. The issue was that ,it was getting stuck at the Customer Information Screen.
Now the transformed MSI (with the transform obtained using difference method)did not work because of the Installscripts which were of older version. So I deleted all Custom actions using the script ISScriptBridge .dll. After making this change the application works fine on Silent installation but for normal installation it halts at the Customer Information Screen. On MSILogging ,it gives an internal error for a control event argument MIProSerNumValFull which was one of the Custom Actions deleted.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hi Novice,
With MSI's that have installshield scripting custom actions in them, you usually need to install a version of isscript.msi which allows these actions to run. So rather than removing the custom actions, I'd install the relevant isscript.msi before installing Mapinfo and you should be sweet.
Hope thats helped

I novice_123,
I have package mapinfo 8.0 also and i had only one problem: The Smartupdate at the end of the install. I got rid of it by doing the following:
* Open mst file -> Open setup editor -> go to tables -> installExecuteSequence -> LaunchSmartUpd -> Not Installed And RUNLAUT = "False"
Before installing mapinfo i push isscipt.msi. I don't want to touch the vendor msi because off support issues.

Yeah I can't see any other option unless you want to repackage the install and rip out the installshield engine stuff... That's what we did as we don't push any of the isscipt packages onto our machines.

Rob.

My understanding is that you need to install the specific version that the application requires (though I could be wrong on that one). If there isn't a copy of the required isscript.msi on the CD you have from Mapinfo, then run a manual installation from the setup.exe, it should extract one to a temp directory somewhere (I usually use Process Explorer to help me locate that kind of stuff).
Hope thats helped
