Packaging Scanner Drivers
I have four files that comprise the USB2.0 Scanner driver:
CSSN800.DLL
CSSN800.ds
CSSN800.INF
SVSTIU.DLL
Normal scenario is: you plug the device in, WindowsXP + SP2 detects it and the USB Hub its attached to, it then can't find the driver, it prompts you for the location of the drivers which I poiint to the ones above. I looked at the PNP Template http://itninja.com/question/gnu,-freeware-and-shareware-programs-to-cloning596 but that shows me nothing I don't already know. I am just trying to automate this driver install so when the device in question is plugged into a machine with the above drivers pre-packaged and installed to a new desktop, the device will work right away without prompting for drivers not found.
Community's help would be most appreciated.

Use either DPInst.exe as a custom action or the DIFxApp.msm merge module.
You need to make sure the driver(s) are signed.
An old thread regarding this can be found at: http://itninja.com/question/how-do-you-roll-out-new-machines?0873&mpage=1&key=冉

Hey Thudo,
Try copying your drivers to Common Files folder and include DPInst.exe within this folder.
Execute this exe in a CA (Type 18) after InstallFinalise with switches /S /LM /F /SE (I've got it in a WiseScript)
This will run the DPInst.exe through the nominated drivers folder and install the required drivers when required.
Make sure all users have access to this driver install folder (for lockdown env.)
Hope this helps,
Regards
