Patch - MSP installation problem
I have created a patch for an existing installation using wise package studio. When i install the msp on the machine that has the older version the patch installation goes fine and succeeds ni the log file. but when i launch the application after patching the application self repairs and if i check the version on the help about its still shows the older version.
Now after the application self repairs if i install the patch again the patch installs and this time the application does not self repair and if i check the version on the help about it is the latest version.
and this happens on a every machine i have tried, and the sequence remains the same
install the patch
run the application
application will self repair
then install the patch again. it works 100 %
i have tried various options for the msiexec with /p, /update
REINSTALLMODE=vomus or vamus, REINSTALL=ALL.........
/qr, /qb!
But still i cannot get the patch installed without the application self repaired (also i tried adding an extra line to install the patch , try self repair of the application from the command line and then install the patch even this does not work).
Thank You in advance.

Problem Solved.
i have used the wsi of the previous version to create a new version.
some of the upgraded files are using the same component with the same component guid from the older WSI.
I generated a new guid for each of the Component which has a new version of the same file name. and created a new Patch and this time the upgrade worked.
