Problem getting file extension to work correctly
Hi all,
I have an application called WinRunner that I am packaging.
There are files of type ".gui" that are associated with it when i install the sources.
If I right click on a .gui file and see the Properties of it, the "Type of File" is WinRunner GUI Map File and when I click Change... at Opens With... the Recommended Program is WinRunner.
However, when i install my msi I don't get this.
I am using Wise Package Studio and have decided against using the File Association Tool in Wise. Instead I extracted the Prog ID registry keys and imported them into my msi hoping that this would do the job - it didn't.
The keys that I have in my app are -
HKCR\.gui with a Default value REG_SZ of guifile
HKCR\guifile with a Default value REG_SZ of WinRunner GUI Map File
HKCR\guifile\DefaultIcon with a Default value REG_SZ of C:\Program Files\Mercury Interactive\WinRunner\arch\wrun.exe,1
Is there anything that i'm missing? Can anyone assist me please?
Cheers,
Rgds,
MArk

To make sure you get all advertising information during a capture set it to scan advertising information.
Open "Windows Installer Editor"
Tools menu -> Options
Advertising tab
Select the "Scan advertising information into advertising tables for the "Advertising Setting"
Mark the "Default to rescan advertising for new components." option
Save this to your template that will be used during SetupCapture.
