Problems creating Adobe Illustrator CS2 package with 12.01 update
Howdy! I have Adobe Illustrator CS2 version 12.0 and I have the update 12.01. I'm using Wise Package Studio to create a single install what will install Adobe Illustrator CS version 12.01. I've tried several methods and from what I can tell you're supposed to do this with a transform however I cannot figure out how to do it. If I create two seperate projects, one for CS2 and one for the 12.01 update, compile them both into an MSI (CS2 is already an MSI, I made a transform that adds in the serial key and all that jazz) and run them one after the other, it works fine. I just want to combine the two for easy deployment. Any ideas before I pull the rest of my hair out?

Stay away from nested MSI. Do a search and you'll find out why. You'll also find a post from me that it can be used but do not recommend it.
Try in another solution instead.
See if you can use my info from the altiris support forum I gave you.
If you can execute more then one installation (msi/exe) after each other using Zenworks then do that instead.

Hi Allen,
what exactly do want to achieve?
AI12 comes as MSI file with a setup.exe wrapper. Do want to use only the MSI-file?
Are you trying to run the update automatically from the MSI at the very end of the install?
Do you install with GPO or other deployment tool?
When i look at the 12.01 update, there are no more than 10 files, which are altered.
Unfortunately Adobe did a horrible job again with this updater. It seems to work only against a installed AI12 but not against a admin install.
The easiest thing would be, to install AI12 then capture the computer, install the update and capture it again.
Then you have the things which are really updated.
Afterwards do an admin install of AI12 and exchange the files in question directly.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
But wait: First of all make a call to Adobe. Maybe they have a new version of AI with 12.01 integrated. Wouldn't be the first time.
Regards, Nick

yes, i was trying to update automatically at the end of the install of CS2. i just don't know how to make a transform in wise package studio to tell it to install the update at the end. i'm trying to do it in zenworks like angeld said but i'd still like to use package studio to make a single install because eventually we're going to get away from zenworks. thanks for the info

ok, i have it working pretty much the way it needs too except... there is a startup splash screen that you can turn off by checking a little box on the slash screen itself. i used snapshot to try to capture it but surprisingly it didn't. on appdeploy it shows how to turn this off for version 11, anyone know how to do it for version 12?

Hi Allen,
i deploy AI on our organisation too. Just created a new admin installpoint with the update on it. I did it the way, i suggest it above.
To your last question: Can't see the why this shouldn't work, like described here: http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=441. Tested it myself.
Are you aware, that you would have to deploy the file 'AIPrefs' to each user profile, to achieve this?
