Since PuTTY is open source it will always run as open source.
I assume you want to know how to run PuTTY from a thumb drive without installing (so called stick ware)
Download the alternate binary of your choice from here:
https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
