repackaging installshield to msi

Hi everybody !!

I have the folowing problem:

I have a installshield 7 package, when i try to import (trace)the package with wise for windows installer professional edition applicationwatch, i get nothing.

After this i have extracted the package ( i get a disk1 folder with the setup.exe and other files + dirs )

When i try to watch the setup.exe it works fine, but during the installation it prompt me for a data2.cab (that doesent exist)

After this i traced with filemon the unextracted installation, and this installation looks also for the data2.cab, but doesent prompt me for it.

Back to the extracted installation:
I tried to make a empty data2.cab file, but after this the software asks for a data3.cab an on...

I tried to install with /s switch and a existing iss file, with a the result of a not responding setup.exe in the taskmanager.

Converting with the wisscript installation also doesnt work.

greets ant thx for helping

Hi Fruehlein:

Its not at all clear what exactly u want to do. Do u want to repackage installshield?
The cab files which u r talking about, might b created at run time.

The installshielt 7 package ist "Remedy Action Request System"

But our company policy only alows msi packages to install.

Whatching the package with wise installer is not possible because it traces only the unpacking of the package.

But the unpacked files could not be installed, because of the cab problem.

sorry for my terrible english :-)
