A windows 7 Task Sequence that had been built some time ago started acting strangely over the last week. there are no apparent error codes displayed when the TS runs. it runs the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step then restarts and displays the windows logon screen. it normally would run several application install steps before it finished.

we had recently built an image for windows 8.1. i dont think anything changed that would impact this. the only thing i can think of is the SCCM server upgrade that was done to get the Win 8.1 functionality we wanted. however, we had tested this TS a day after the upgrade and it worked fine.

i went through the smsts.log file and saw the machine rebooted for some reason when i dont think it should have. i would appreciate any help on this as im not sure what the issue could be.
