Self healing strange...

Hi,

I am facing a issue of self healing. My application shortcut when launches start self healing.
Strange things is that it sometime heals and sometimes it doesn't.

For example when I launch shortcut 15 times it heals for 3-4 times.

I checked eventvwr and found that one component named tracker.exe seems to be causing issue.

Component name is Tracker.exe. It has some HKCR keys, one exe named Tracker.exe and this exe is
the keypath. Also, this component has a shortcut which is pointing to this tracker.exe

So, this issue is occuring when I launch shortcut which is pointing to tracker.exe. Can someone please point why is self healling occuring. And why sometimes it heals and sometime it doesn't.

Any help will be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance

Set registry key as key path and see.

Instead, you can remove keypath for that component./ And, try to have a blank GUID for the component.

Can any one please guide what all could be the possible reasons for self healing...

In general I understand...blank component and missing files / registries usually causes self healing to occur...

It looks to me that there is a HKCU that changes when the application has been run. Run a compare before and after to see what key changes? You may have to do this a few times to find this key but that's what it looks like to me ????

djain3. Did you repackaged app or made transform for your msi?

In the case of repackaging: "uncheck" keypaths for DYNAMIC entries (registry and files).

User event viewer to find trigger components.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
