Silent installation of patches

I have to apply the following patch SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise version on Windows 7. This must be installed silently. But the problem is that the 'Program compatibility Assistant' comes up and unless the user clicks 'Run program' the patches are not installed. Kindly suggest a way to overcome this.

Have you tried setting the EXE's 'Compatibility' before running it?

Yes. When the 'Program Compatibility Assistant' comes up and i click 'Run Program' it works fine. I just need to find out a way to suppress this screen and ensure that installation progresses

Try using a shim-database to set the compatibility mode before running your commandline. With this method you can implement (silent) the shim first and after that you normal commandline for installing your exe.

You can make the shim database with the Compatibility Administrator wich can be downloaded (for free) on the Microsoft website.

Found the solution. Made an entry in the following registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags. The name will be the guid id and value will be 4.
