Deploying Tableau 8.1

I am packaging 8.1 version but when i try with switch q it doesnt work. trying to find out the reason.

hi thanks for reply. i have msi and for this application i checked on vendor website. it says msi supports silent switch q. i tried with q and all other switches and waited for some time to check if application installs but there is no way it installs. dont know why its such a pain to just install msi silently with switch q. i tried all possible ways. - jay25oct 10 years ago

Get the exe and start the install, but dont install - leave it running.
Switch to %temp%, find and copy the files to another location, im talking about the MSI's here.
Once you have the MSI throw some switches and logging stuff at it in the MSI normal fashion - boom, done.
ie.
msiexec /i tableau-setup-std-tableau-8-1.14.0312.2049-x64.msi /qn /l*vx .\log.log

Do you know what the switch would be for activate the License for Tableau Desktop Professional? I am using a msi that I extracted from the vender .exe

There is no switch. You need to insert the HKCU registry keys created by the activation into the install.
